A ceramic mug featuring aspen trees, inspired by the colors of the Rocky Mountains.
To achieve this look, I used a variation of a technique called mishima. This process involves carving a design and filling the carvings with a contrasting slip or glaze. Here the entire mug was coated in wax, then the trees and bark were carved with an sharp knife. Black glaze was used to fill in the carvings and define the trees.
