I’ve never seen axolotls in real life. One time, I was hiking around a lake in Colorado, and I thought I saw them floating in the lake. They were a muddy, swampy variation of axolotl. I was so pleased! But it turns out, they were just juvenile tiger salamanders.
This ceramic mug features real axolotls all around. Soapy underglaze was used to create the blue bubbles, a technique known as bubble glazing. The inside is glazed in a brilliant cobalt blue, and the outside glazed clear.
